CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITIES
CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES
UAT is proud of its involvement with a number of charities. Our employees and the company voluntarily contribute time and money to support a range of charitable events.
ACCA Charity Fun Day
As a responsible corporate citizen, UAT sponsored the Charity Fun Day and participated in the Rickshaw Race to support the charity event organized by the ACCA Hong Kong. Proceeds raised were donated to a number of charitable associations, e.g. Harmony House for its project on "The Voice of Harmony - Healing for our Children", S.K.H. St. Christopher's Home for its "Multiple Intelligence Project", The Boys' Brigade, Hong Kong for its "Sharity" (Share the Charity) scheme, as well as other non-profit making organizations working towards the welfare of the local underprivileged group.
2008 / 2007
UAT Caring Fund
Every year, a portion of the UAT Caring Fund collected by employees, friends and fund raising activities is donated to various charitable organizations, e.g. the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Yan Chai Hospital and Hong Kong Kidney Foundation Limited.
Donations to ORBIS International
UAT corporate citizenship operates at both not only local but global levels also through donations to international charities, e.g. ORBIS International. Ninety percent of the world’s blind live in developing countries, where barriers such as poverty and poor infrastructure hinder the development of adequate eye care facilities. ORBIS is a nonprofit humanitarian organization which strives to eliminate avoidable blindness and restore sight in the developing world. The challenge for ORBIS is to prevent blindness and restore eyesight i in countries most in need.
Community Service
We are committed to serving our host communities not only through corporate contributions, but by volunteering our time, resources and energy. Reflecting our emphasis on environmental protection issues, our volunteer activity includes paper recycling in our office. We also support a number of social welfare initiatives. UAT donates clothes and our used personal computers, displays and audio and visual equipment to the deprived families.
