Polycom made major strides in the high definition space in the past 12 months. Part of the Polycom's major movement towards high definition in the last 12 months was an engineering breakthrough for the company's RMX 2000 real-time media conferencing platform. According to the firm, the breakthrough will help deliver true HD continuous presence conferencing with full transcoding on the existing RMX 2000 media processing module hardware.

In March, at VON Conference & Expo held held in San Jose, the company unveiled the expansion of its line of standards-based VoIP desktop phones with three new models, including two enterprise-grade entry-level phones, and a high-performance four-line phone with Polycom HD Voicetechnology.
