The second Asian Korfball Championship had been held at the Sawai Man Singh Indoor Stadium, India. Seven countries including defending champions Chinese Taipei and hosts India, had taken part in the championship. China, Nepal, Hong Kong, South Korea and Pakistan had also participated.

UAT has been sponsoring Hong Kong Korfball team for over two years. China and Hong Kong played for the third place and spectators were treated to one of the most exciting encounters of the tournament. At the half time break China had a modest lead of one goal (8-7) with absolutely nothing between the two teams. In the second half Hong Kong took the lead through some tactical mistakes from China which prevented them from keeping up with their more experienced opponents.

In the end China were fighting valiantly to close the gap, but Hong Kong calmly controlled the game and brought home a glorious victory!

There were no surprises in the final game when Chinese Taipei calmly took care of the Indian attackers leaving no space for shots and claiming the rebound after just one shot.
