Education videoconferencing enhances interest in learning – An Interview by e-Campus Today

16 Jul 2008

Polycom videoconferencing solutions can benefit the education arena in that students can focus their attention facilitating more effective learning.  Takeshi Ishimaru, Polycom Theatre Product Marketing Manager, demonstrated how the solution applies in a human skeleton lecture as an example, and how the solution links to videos, websites and even Google Earth.

Elaine Shuck, Polycom Global Director of Primary and Secondary Education explained that videoconferencing education is not limited to purely academic subjects.  Even piano teachers and Japanese language teachers find the solution effective.  School debating competitions can also be conducted through videoconferencing. Students from different countries can also communicate and establish friendships with others across the world.

When asked about whether it is mandatory to have high definition videoconferencing solution, Elaine explained that standard definition can facilitate video-based learning but the trend is for high definition deployments.
