Polycom was awarded by the Computerworld Hong Kong Awards 2009 of Telepresence Solutions under the category of "Network & Communications". The awards were introduced in 2002, and are a tribute to the outstanding IT products and services that make organisations in Hong Kong better. The annual competition uses a dynamic selection process involving Computerworld Hong Kong readers. It aims to identify successful products, solutions and companies preferred by Hong Kong IT users' needs and requirements.

The list of nominees for each category is determined through discussion with focus groups that include IT analysts, experts and CWHK editors. Readers are also given free rein to add new nominees during the selection process if they are not listed. Readers include CIOs, chief technology officers, senior vice presidents, vice presidents, IT analysts, IT directors and managers from a cross-section of user companies, including but not limited to professionals in network management, database management, Web management, help desk, application development, project management, contract management or procurement.
